A Message From Your Pastor | Hold On

Wow! If you're like me, September crept up on you quickly and silently. Summer flew by so fast that I didn't even have a chance to enjoy it. Of course, our summer was dominated by feeling the loss of one of our children, but nonetheless time has flown.

Our church is getting back to full schedule with Kids’ Club, Tweens and Ladies’ Bible studies all back on the calendar. As we get back to normal, I was thinking of families who have wrapped up vacation, children who are now back in school and the busy times everybody experiences.

I want to ask you a question: in all the hustle and bustle or your busy life, have you allowed God to be your priority? You may answer that you just don't have time for God in your busy life, but I say that you are too busy not to allow God to be your highest priority. He can help you in the times of busyness, pressure and tight deadlines. He is the One who can bring you through sorrow, sickness and sadness.

I encourage you to make sure you schedule time in your schedule for God. He will help you immeasurably. Look to Him and find all that you need to get you through life’s challenges. Hold on to God as He holds on to you.

Until next time, blessings upon you and yours!

A Message from Your Pastor: Rising Above

As we were driving today, I noted a robin on the side of the road. What was interesting was that, to get to the other side (insert chicken joke here), he ran in order to complete his journey and avoid us hitting him. The first thought that came to my mind was, “Why didn't he just fly across? Why walk when you can fly?”

My father-in-law has often said, “Why stand up when you can sit down, and why sit down when you can lay down?”. So I was thinking about this bird. It didn't make sense to me to see a healthy bird with two good wings running instead of flying across the road.

Then the Lord prompted a thought. Isn't that how some of us Christians live? We are content with a stroll in the faith when we are called to rise higher than that. God has designed us for relationship with Him. A true, dedicated, fruitful relationship with Christ brings us to higher heights and greater adventure than we could ever imagine.

Even through tough times, we can rise above them when we are in that deep relationship with God. It reminds me of Isaiah 40:31, which says:

"But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Waiting on the Lord is the place of power. What are you dealing with today? Give it to God and strap yourself in for a wild adventure that will bless you and give you spiritual vitality.
